ORDER

This petition has been filed to quash the FIR in Crime No.7 of 2025 on the file of 1st respondent police filed for the offence under Sections 296(b), 115(2), 351(2) and 91 of BNS Act, 2023 and Section 4 of the TNPHW Act.

2. The allegation in the FIR is that the on 07/01/2025 at about 07:00 p.m., the first petitioner who resides near the complainant's house under the influence of alcohol, abused the complainant's mother-in-law; that the defacto complainant, who was 2 1⁄2 months pregnant, intervened in the argument between her mother-in-law and the petitioner; that the defacto complainant and the second petitioner, who is the wife of the first petitioner, attacked the defacto complainant and abused her in filthy language and thus committed the aforesaid offence.

3. The petitioners and the 2nd & 3rd respondents who are neighbours, have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 20th June, 2025 and the scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

The petitioners namely, Kumar (Aadhar No.7659 3828 3842), Paulmathi (Aadhar No.4566 3581 8856) and the defacto complainant/2nd respondent(Aadhar No.8729 4781 5966) and victim/3rd respondent (Aadhar No.4365 9829 8559) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.T.Nagarajan, Head Constable 677, Rajakkamangalam Police Station, Kanykumari District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

5. In view of the compromise arrived at between the parties and the nature of allegations and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose will be served in keeping the impugned final report pending in the trial Court.
