ORDER

The petitioner seeks for quashing of the FIR in Crime No. 586 of 2024 on the file of the first respondent police, for the alleged offences under Sections 296(b), 229(2), 351(3), 318(2), 336(2) and Sections 3 & 4 of TN Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Act, 2003.

2. The allegation against the petitioner is that due to money dispute, the petitioner had abused the defacto complainant in filthy language and attacked him and also threatened him with dire consequences.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the defacto complainant/the second respondent would submit that the parties have now entered into a compromise on the advise of the elders and well-wishers and both the parties have agreed that the impugned F.I.R may be quashed.

4. The parties have also filed a joint compromise memo dated 8th September 2025. The scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

5. The petitioner and the second respondent are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.S.Pargunan, S.S.I., E.Pudur Police Station. Both the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

6. Considering the fact that the F.I.R discloses predominantly a money dispute and the parties have arrived at a compromise, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No. 586 of 2024 on the file of the first respondent police, is hereby quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. 09.09.2025 Index : Yes/No Internet : Yes/No NCC : Yes/ No LS TO
