Respondents PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle surrender leave salary of Rs.2,20,041/- for 135 days payable for the service rendered by the petitioner's husband Late.V.Vellaichamy in the 1st respondent corporation together with interest at the rate of 6% per annum payable from the date of his death to till the date of actual payment.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed by the wife of a deceased employee of the respondent Transport Corporation.

2. According to the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner's husband was a Canteen Cleaner and he passed away on 15.05.2021. However, the respondent Corporation has so far not released the surrender leave salary. The petitioner had made a representation on 20.05.2023 to the said effect. However, there is no response from the respondent Corporation.

3. In view of the above said facts, the 2nd respondent herein is directed to settle the eligible surrender leave salary with 6% interest from the date of the death of the petitioner's husband till the date of realisation. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2/4

4. With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
