Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

2. The prayer in this writ petition is for a Mandamus, directing the second respondent to carry out correction in the birth certificate of the petitioner's son namely Sivamani, son of Ponmadasamy based on her representation dated 14.12.2019.

3. As per Section 15 of the Tamil Nadu Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 r/w Rule 11 of the Tamil Nadu Birth and Death Rules, 2000, the correction or cancellation of entry in the register of births and deaths, is permissible if it is proved to the satisfaction of the Registrar.

Therefore, the second respondent is directed to consider the representation 14.12.2019 given by the petitioner for changing the father's name in the birth certificate of her son and pass appropriate orders on the same after due enquiry, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No Costs.
