ORDER

This petition has been filed to direct the Additional District Court No.II for CBI Cases, Madurai to expedite the trial in C.C.No.7 of 2014 and to 1/4

conduct the trial on day to day basis and complete the same within stipulated time as framed by this Court.

2. The petitioner is the accused in the above said case, which was registered for the offences under Sections 120(b) r/w 420 of IPC, Sections 13(2), 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Even though cognizance was taken in 2014, it is kept pending for the past Seven years. He would further submit that the charges were framed on 24.10.2018 and thereafter, the case was adjourned several times for examination of witnesses, even then, the respondent is not ready to examine the witnesses so far. Hence, the present petition has been filed.

3.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents and also the perused the materials available on records.

4.Since the charges were framed in the year 2018, there shall be a direction to the Additional District Court No.II for CBI Cases, Madurai, to 2/4

expedite the trial process in C.C No.7 of 2014 and dispose of the same, within six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. After disposal of the case, compliance report must be submitted to the Registry of this Court. With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of.
