ORDER

******** (Order of the Court was made by M.S.RAMESH, J. Alleging willful disobedience of the order of a coordinate Bench in W.P(MD)No.22358 of 2017, dated 07.12.2017, the present contempt petition has been filed.

2. In the order passed in the writ petition in W.P(MD)No.22358 of 2017, dated 07.12.2017, the District Collector, Tirunelveli District, was directed to take immediate steps for providing drinking water on a priority basis, take earnest and efficacious steps to maintain street lights in a proper condition etc., with a view to provide health environment to the citizens and pass appropriate orders on merits.

3. Alleging willful disobedience of the aforesaid order, dated 07.12.2017, the present contempt petition has been filed.

4. The District Collector, Tirunelveli District, in his status report dated 07.01.2019, had stated that the Revenue Divisional Officer has undertaken inspection on 27.12.2018 and had submitted his report whereby it is seen that two overhead tanks are provided in the village and

drinking water has also been supplied to 128 families of Adi Dravidar residential people, to which water is being supplied from the open-air well.

5. It is further stated in the status report that an other overhead tank has been put up near Ariyur Road, from which, common pipelines are provided and distribution of water is going on regularly to all sections of people. This apart, a special syntax tank was put up with capacity of 750 litres of water from which Tamirabarani drinking water is being supplied to the Adi Dravidar residential area. The report also speaks about the 47 LED lamps provided in the village, out of which, 19 LED Lamps were provided exclusively for Adi Dravidar residential place. If that be so, we do not find any disobedience of the earlier order passed in the writ petition.

6. In case, the petitioner is of the view at later stage that street lamps or the drinking water or the roads are not being properly maintained, he is at liberty to approach this Court by way of a fresh writ petition.
