ORDER

The petitioner seeks a direction to the first respondent to issue a passport to him based on his application dated 29.07.2025, pending in File No. MD1065408988425, and on his representation submitted to the first respondent.

2. The petitioner would submit that he had applied for the issuance of a passport on 29.07.2025 and attended the interview on the date and time allotted. Thereafter, he received an adverse report from the first respondent on account of his alleged criminal antecedent. The said adverse report was based on the report furnished by the second respondent, in view of the registration of an FIR against the petitioner under Section 4(1)(k) of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, in Crime No.165 of 2024. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner has approached this Court.

3. When the matter came up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submitted that the charge sheet has been filed and 2/4

taken on file in S.T.C. No.396 of 2025 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate, Thiruppuvanam, and that the next date of hearing is fixed on 24.11.2025.

4. In view of the above, the petitioner has to await the outcome of the criminal proceedings and thereafter renew his application for passport. Hence, this writ petition is dismissed, as the petitioner has not made out any case for issuance of a passport pending the criminal proceedings. No costs.
