ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to settle interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the petitioner's terminal benefits including Provident Fund, Gratuity, Terminal Leave Salary, Cholan Employees Security Scheme amount and Refund of contribution made to Erode Engineering College, Perunthurai Medical College, Polytechnic and Institute of Road Transport from the date of his retirement to till the date on which the said benefits were settled to the petitioner.

2. Considering the admitted fact that there has been a delay in payment, the petitioner is entitled to statutory interest as provided under law.

3. In view of the same, the writ petition stands disposed of. The respondents are directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the belated terminal benefits payable to the petitioner from the date of his entitlement till the date of his payment, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
