CONTEMNOR/2nd RESPONDENT Petition praying that in the circumstances stated therein and in the affidavit filed therewith the High Court will be pleased to punish the contemnor for wilful and deliberate disobedience of the order 19.4.2018 passed by this Honourable Court in WP(MD) No.8578 of 2018.

PRAYER IN WP(MD). No.8578 of 2018 Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to pass orders in Na.Ka.No.m8/591/2016, dated 22.08.2017, based on the recommendation made by the third respondent on 28.11.2017, within a stipulated time.

ORDER : This petition coming on for orders upon perusing the petition and the affidavit filed in support thereof and upon hearing the arguments of MR.V.PERUMAL, Advocate for the petitioner and of MR.P.KANNIDVAN, Additional Government Pleader on behalf of the Respondent, the court made the following order:- This Court, by order dated 19.04.2018 in W.P.(MD) No.8578 of 2018 directed the second respondent, ie., the Revenue Divisional Officer, Tirunelveli to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 27.07.2017 and pass orders thereon within a period of eight weeks. Since the said order has not been allegedly complied with, the petitioner has moved this contempt petition. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

2. Today, when the case is taken up, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent submitted that, after enquiry, it has been sent to the Government through the Director of Land Reforms, Chennai, for approval and publication in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette and this communication was made by the office of the Assistant Collector, Tirunelveli on 02.05.2019.

3. Citing this communication, the learned Additional Government Pleader submits that, considerable progress has been made pursuant to the order passed by this Court. Therefore, if further time is given, within which time, the orders of this Court would be totally complied with.

4. Considering the aforesaid developments, further time of three weeks is granted, within which, necessary final orders shall be passed by the respondent, ie., the Revenue Divisional Officer concerned, who is the respondent in the contempt petition and such order shall be produced before this Court on the next hearing date, otherwise, the respondent shall remain present in this Court and explain as to why final orders have not been passed.
