Respondent PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to appoint the petitioners as trustees of Arulmighu Meenakshi Chokkalingeswarar Temple, Venthanpatti by considering the respective application, dated 08.02.2023 within the stipulated time.

O R D E R

The case of the petitioners is that they have been unanimously selected by the Nagarathars as Trustees of Arulmigu Meenakshi Chokkalingeswarar Temple, Venthanpatti and pursuant to which, they have also applied for the same in the prescribed form on 08.02.2023. According to the petitioners, a scheme has also been framed for the administration of the temple. However, the respondent has not considered their applications so far. Hence, they have filed this writ petition for a Mandamus to direct the respondent to appoint the petitioners as Trustees of the above temple.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that the petitioners have applied in the month of February 2023, pursuant to the Notification issued by the respondent HR&CE Department, however, their appointments have not been finalized so far.

3.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondent submits that the process of appointing the petitioners as Trustees of the above temple is under progress and a decision would be taken within a reasonable time.

4.In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent to take a decision on the application of the petitioner in accordance with the scheme within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
