ORDER

This writ petition is filed for a direction to the third respondent to declare the results of selection process for the post of Village Assistant, Aranthangi Taluk, Pudukkottai District, at once and declare the petitioner as most suitable candidate for the above said post.

2. The petitioner attended interview for the post of Village Assistant on 05.09.2017 before the third respondent. According to the petitioner, the post is reserved for General Turn Quota. The petitioner is physically challenged person and she is fully qualified to be appointed as Village Assistant. During the interview, the third respondent gave assurance that she will be appointed. The respondents are not publishing the results. On these averments, the petitioner has come out with the present writ petition for the above relief.

3. The third respondent filed counter affidavit. 1/3

Mr.C.M.Mari Chellaiah Prabhu, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the qualifications for appointment to the post of Village Assistants, are:- 1.to have passed 5th Standard 2.to read and write Tamil fluently 3.able to Ride Cycle 4.to be resident of that Taluk Totally, 20 candidates were attended the interview on 05.09.2017 including the petitioner. Out of 20 candidates, 15 candidates were not coming under priority. Out of remaining 5 candidates, one person possessed higher qualification and the petitioner was not able to read and write Tamil and was also not able to ride cycle. Out of these eligible candidates, one Malaikkannan, S/o.Chidambaram of Pallathivayal in Azhiyanilai has fulfilled all the required qualifications and was appointed by the proceedings of the third respondent dated 16.10.2017, as Village Assistant and prayed for dismissal of the writ petition.

4. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents and perused the materials available on record.

5. From the materials on record, it is seen that the interview was conducted on 05.09.2017 and the petitioner has filed the writ petition on 13.09.2017. The respondents have filed counter stating that the petitioner is unable to read and write Tamil and could not ride cycle, which are necessary qualifications for appointment to the post of Village Assistant. In addition to that, one Malaikkannan was appointed as Village Assistant.

6. In view of the above facts, the writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
