This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the second respondent to issue joint patta in the petitioner's family members for their ancestral property of bearing Survey No. 1153/16 - Old Survey No. 988/1PT, with an extent of 4967.62 sq.ft, sitauted at their village of Keelakallamparai, Thenthirupperai, Eral Taluk,

2. Heard the learned counsel for the parties.

3. The petitioner submitted a representation dated 25.09.2024 to the respondents, seeking issuance of a joint patta in the names of the petitioner's family members in respect of the properties referred to above. However, no action has been taken on the said representation. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.

4. Learned Government Advocate, appearing on behalf of the respondents, submits that the petitioner's representation would be considered on merits and in accordance with law. 2/5

In view of the above submissions, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the second respondent/Tahsildar to consider the petitioner's representation dated 25.09.2024 on merits and in accordance with law and to pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. The representation shall be considered and disposed of after conducting an inquiry. The second respondent is further directed to afford a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner and to all other persons who may be affected by such decision during the course of the inquiry. In the event of any rival claims, the same can be agitated before the competent civil court. There shall be no order as to costs.
