PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Certiorarified mandamus, calling for the records pertaining to the second respondent letter dated 13.09.2017 issued to the First respondent cancelling Title of the Petitioner IDI MURASU and quash the same and consequently direct the Second Respondent to register the Title IDI MURASU in favour of the petitioner.

The petitioner, who is a publisher has registered his newspaper in the name of 'Idimurasu'. However, the same was cancelled by the order of the second respondent, dated 13.09.2017 and therefore, this writ petition was filed challenging the order of the second respondent, cancelling the title of the petitioner Idimurasu and for a consequential relief to grant that name, 'Idimurasu' to the petitioner's newspaper.

2.When this writ petition was listed for hearing on 02.01.2024, there was no representation for the petitioner. Therefore, this writ petition was ordered to be listed on 04.01.2024 under the caption ''for dismissal''. Even today, there is no representation for the petitioner.

3.The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the first respondent submits that initially, the second respondent without ascertaining the records has granted a permission to the petitioner on his request. However, after verification, it was found that this title Idimurasu was already registered in favour of some other person and therefore, as per section 6 of the Press and Registration of Books Act, 1867, the registration, which was given in the name of the petitioner as Idimurasu was cancelled with a liberty to the petitioner to submit a fresh application. 4.Recording the submission made by the learned Additional Government Pleader, this writ petition is closed.
