Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondent to provide adequate police protection for conducting the food festival commencing on 23.09.2025 in a smoother manner in "Arulmighu Oor Kavalan Samy Temple" situated at K.Pudhupatti, Singampunari Taluk, Sivagangai District.

ORDER

The Writ Petition is filed for Mandamus to direct the respondent to provide police protection for conducting the food festival commencing from 23.09.2025 in Arulmighu Oor Kavalan Samy Temple situated at K.Pudhupatti, Singampunari Taluk, Sivagangai District.

2. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner alone cannot be permitted to conduct the festival since there are other rival claimants.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that police protection is sought for since certain persons, who were removed from the trusteeship of the temple, are preventing the petitioner from conducting the festival.

4. Even according to the petitioner, there is a dispute and that is why, police protection is sought for. The respondent cannot adjudicate such disputes. If the petitioner apprehends any disturbance from any third party, the appropriate remedy is to file a civil suit. Hence, there cannot be any direction as prayed for by the petitioner.

5. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
