[Order of the Court was made by M.SUNDAR, J.] Captioned 'Writ Petition' [hereinafter 'WP' for the sake of brevity] which has been filed in this Court on 31.10.2023 as a 'Public Interest Litigation' [hereinafter 'PIL' for the sake of brevity] pertains to 'laying of pipelines for water from Alavanthankulam Village, Siluvai Temple well to the overhead water tank' [hereinafter 'said order' for the sake of brevity].
2.Mr.R.Alagumani, learned counsel on record for PIL petitioner, submitted that a work order has been issued vide proceedings dated 02.01.2023 in Na.Ka.No.A2/1202/2022 made by fifth respondent. 3/7
Learned counsel submitted that though work order was issued in January 2023, the matter lies there and he is concerned for general citizenry who gets benefits if said work is done. 3.Issue notice.
4.Mr.M.Senthil Ayyanar, learned Government Advocate accepts notice for respondents 1 to 6, Mr.S.Ravi, learned Additional Public Prosecutor accepts notice for respondent No.7 and Mr.M.Harish Kumar, learned counsel accepts notice for respondent No.8. 5.Mr.M.Senthil Ayyanar, learned Government Advocate, on instructions from the fifth respondent who is present in Court, submits that pursuant to aforesaid 02.01.2023 proceedings issuing work order to a person who has quoted less than L1 has moved further, a contract has been made and preliminary work has commenced. This by itself means that the concern of the PIL petitioner has been addressed. Therefore, we draw the curtains on the captioned WP / PIL.
