This writ petitioner filed this Writ Petition seeking for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 2nd respondent to permit the petitioner to conduct a public meeting on 17.12.2022 from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm at in front of Kattuputhur Bus Stand, Kattuputhur, Thottiyam Taluk, Trichy District, on the basis of his representation dated 02.12.2022. 2.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor takes notice for the respondents Police. By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has decided to hold a public meeting on 17.12.2022 from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm at in front of Kattuputhur Bus Stand, Kattuputhur, Thottiyam Taluk, Trichy. Hence, he sought permission of the Police by giving a representation dated 02.12.2022. But, the respondent has not considered the said representation. Since no order was passed, the petitioner has come before this Court for the above said relief. 2/4
4.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents would submit that the representation given by the petitioner was rejected by the respondent on the ground that some sort of law and order may arise and the petitioner may be permitted to conduct the meeting within 4.00 p.m., on 17.12.2022.
5. I have considered the submissions of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent police.
