ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for mandamus directing the respondent bank to distribute the maturity amount of Rs.1,45,066.76, matured on

22.11.2021 with belated interest regarding Account No.6181.405.22600 in Serial No.SBC 256460 of the respondent bank deposited by the father of the petitioner.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.N.Dilipkumar, learned counsel, who takes notice on behalf of the respondent. By consent, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. The case of the petitioner is that her father and mother got separated legally, when she was minor. At the time of separation, the Court directed the petitioner's father to deposit an amount of Rs.58,132.64/- in the petitioner's name, as fixed deposit for 10 years. That said amount has attained maturity on 22.11.2021 and the maturity amount of Rs.1,45,066.76/-. Now, the petitioner is major and 22 years old and to get the said amount, she approached the bank with the original bond, however they did not give any response. Thereafter, the petitioner sent a representation to the respondent on 22.07.2025, but no steps have been taken so far. Hence, this petition. It is also contended that now the petitioner's father and mother are no more. Since her grandfather conducted the case, she do not have any particulars about the case.

4. The learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent would submit that the amount in question shall be disbursed to the petitioner upon her furnishing a letter from her grandfather, who is shown as the guardian and upon producing the original bond.

5. Considering the aforesaid submission, the petitioner is directed to submit a letter from her grandfather, Nagamani, and produce the original bond before the respondent bank. On such production, the respondent bank is directed to disburse the amount to the petitioner, within a week thereafter.
