Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the 2nd respondent to provide adequate police protection and also to permit the petitioner and the villagers to conduct Dassara Festival, to be conducted on 07.09.2025 to 02.10.2025. Otherwise, the petitioner and his villagers and devotees of Sri Devi Appu Chadatchi Amman Temple based on the petitioner's representation dated 26.08.2025.

ORDER

The Writ Petition is filed for Mandamus to direct the respondents to provide police protection and to permit the petitioner and the villagers to conduct Dassara festival between 07.09.2025 and 02.10.2025 at Sri Devi Appu Chadatchi Amman Temple based on the petitioner's representation dated 26.08.2025.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, would submit that there are several other persons in the same Village, who claim exclusive right to conduct the Dassara festival and that police protection as sought for by the petitioner cannot be granted. However, in order maintain law and order, the respondents have called upon the rival claimants along with the petitioner for an enquiry tomorrow (13.09.2025).

3. In view of the aforesaid submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor that there are also other villagers, who would claim to conduct the Dassara festival, the petitioner alone cannot be permitted to 2/4

conduct the festival. However, if all of them agree for an amicable settlement before the respondents, the respondents may permit them to conduct the festival. But, this Court is of the view that no specific direction as prayed for by the petitioner can be granted.

4. With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
