PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to disburse the salary, arrears to the petitioner from the date 31.10.2020 to 29.11.2021 with interest and all other consequential benefits, within the time stipulated by this Court. The petitioner, a retired Sanitary Worker has filed this writ petition, seeking a Mandamus to disburse his arrears of salary for the period from 31.10.2020 to 29.11.2021 with interest and all other consequential benefits.

2.Today(28.01.2025), when this writ petition is taken up for hearing, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents by referring to the proceedings of the Block Development Officer, Mudhukulathur dated 22.01.2021 submits that they have taken initiative to pay the arrears of salary and it would be settled to the petitioner positively by today. 2/5

3.The respondents have not offered their explanation as to why they have not settled the arrears of salary from 30.10.2020 to 29.11.2021 so far. However, it is now reported that the arrears of salary payable to this petitioner would be settled to him by the fourth respondent by today.

4.Recording the submission made by the learned Special Government Pleader and the proceedings of the Block Development Officer, Mudhukulathur dated 22.01.2021, this writ petition is closed, with a direction to the respondents to pay the arrears of salary with interest at the rate of 6% per annum, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
