Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to disburse the interest at the rate of 6% as per Court direction for belated payment of terminal benefits of Gratuity, Provident Fund and Leave Salary for its total amount comes to Rs.41,28,791/- for a period of 19 months from 01.4.2023 to 30.10.2024 to the petitioner.

Mr.K.Senthilkumar, learned Standing Counsel, takes notice for the first and second respondents and Mr.S.C.Herold Singh, learned counsel, takes notice for the third respondent. By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. 2.The present writ petition has been filed by a retired employee of the Transport Corporation seeking a mandamus for payment of interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits. 3.According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, though he had attained the age of superannuation on 31.03.2023, the terminal benefits were released to him only on 30.10.2024. Hence, the petitioner sent a representation on 05.11.2024 seeking interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits and filed the present writ petition. 2/4
4.Considering the above said facts, the respondents herein are directed to pay 6% interest for the belated payment of terminal benefits from the date of superannuation till the date of disbursement of the terminal benefits within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5.With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
