Respondents PRAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Certiorarifed Mandamus to call for the records of the impugned order under reference PVR.No.S6082400396558 dated 21.10.2024 passed by the third respondent and consequently to quash the same as illegal and erroneous and subsequently direct them to issue no objection certificate for undergoing a trip to Agatti Island (Lakshadweep) along with his wife and friends forthwith. 1/4

ORDER

The petitioner challenging the impugned order passed in PVR.No.S6082400396558, dated 21.10.2024, wherein the respondent police had rejected the petitioner's request for granting no objection letter for his travel program to Agatti Island (Lakshadweep).

2. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents police, on instructions, would submit that Agatti Island (Lakshadweep) is the part of Indian territory and no such certificate is required for visiting that place. In any event the petitioner's request, on verification, was rejected, since he was not residing in the address given. If the petitioner appears before the respondent police along with his address proof, his representation would be favorably considered.

3. In view of the above, the impugned order in PVR.No.S6082400396558, dated 21.10.2024, passed by the third respondent is hereby set aside. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is allowed. 2/4

The petitioner is directed to appear before the respondent police along with his address proof and thereafter, on verifying the same, certificate as required by the petitioner, can be issued. No costs.
