ORDER

The petitioners seek to quash the final report in PRC No.19 of 2015, on the file of the learned District Munsif Cum Judicial Magistrate Court, Rameswaram, Ramanathapuram District, which was filed for the offences under Sections 147, 148, 294(b) and 323 IPC, insofar as the petitioners concerned.

2.The allegation in the charge sheet is that the defacto complainant and his friend had purchased the ice cubes from one Arockiya Raj for the purpose of fishing. At that time, a verbal altercation took place between the first accused and the defacto complainant and on seeing the same, the accused 2 to 11 joined with A1 and all of them attacked the defacto complainant and his friend, abused them in filthy language and thus, committed the aforesaid offences.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned counsel for the defacto complainant/the second respondent would submit that the parties have now entered into a compromise on the advise of the elders and well-wishers and both the parties have agreed that the impugned final report may be quashed.

4.The parties have also filed a joint compromise memo dated 16th September 2025. The scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

5.The petitioners, namely, Thangapandi (Aadhaar No.3674 3360 0824), Rajalingam (Aadhaar No.4258 5278 1970) and the second respondent, namely, Santhiya @ Sathya (Aadhaar No.8942 2719 1945) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.R.Vellathangam, Sub Inspector of Police, Jetty Police Station, Ramanathapuram District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

6.Considering the nature of the offences and also considering the fact that the parties have arrived at a compromise, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned charge sheet pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned charge sheet in P.R.C.No.19 of 2015, on the file of the learned District Munsif Cum Judicial Magistrate Court, Rameswaram, Ramanathapuram District, is quashed insofar as the petitioners concerned and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
