JUDGMENT

(By G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.) Heard the learned counsel for the appellant and the learned standing counsel for Bharathidasan University. 2.The appellant was appointed as Junior Assistant in the respondent university on 23.03.1987. He was promoted as Assistant on 15.12.1997. His grievance is that the seniority position obtained by him in the year 1989 was downgraded. As a result, the fifth respondent stole a march over him. 33 years later, W.P.(MD)No.23493 of 2022 came to be filed seeking restoration of the position that prevailed in the year 1989. The learned Single Judge vide order dated 19.08.2024 non-suited the appellant solely on the ground of laches. We are of the view that the approach adopted by the learned Single Judge cannot be faulted. A person who wants to revive a stale claim cannot be allowed to knock the 2/4
