Respondents PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the 2nd respondent to release suitable modified advertisements / notifications in the leading News Papers, about the availability of such a Vacancy, for the position of Chair Person, in the 4th respondent State Commission for the information and knowledge of the common public and also to issue clear terms of reference to make the Selection Committee, to understand and select and sponsor panel of 2 names, only from the fields of finance, commerce, economics or management and that too not from the TANGEDCO or TANTRANSCO as represented by the petitioner Association through its letter dated 07.08.2024 and also in the total compliance of Section 84(1) r/w.
Section 85(5) of the Electricity Act, 2003, for the consideration of posting a Chair Person in the 4th respondent State Commission. ORDER
This writ petition has been filed to direct the 2nd respondent to release suitable modified advertisements / notifications in the leading News Papers, about the availability of such a Vacancy, for the position of Chair Person, in the 4th respondent State Commission for the information and knowledge of the common public and also to issue clear terms of reference to make the Selection Committee, to understand and select and sponsor panel of 2 names, only from the fields of finance, commerce, economics or management and that too not from the TANGEDCO or TANTRANSCO as represented by the petitioner Association through its letter dated 07.08.2024, in compliance of Section 84(1) r/w. Section 85(5) of the Electricity Act, 2003

When the matter came up for hearing, the learned Additional Advocate General submitted that a notification with respect to appointment of Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission under the Electricity Act, 2003, dated 08.01.2025, appointing one Thiru.R.Manivannan, as Chairman of the said Commission, has already been issued. 3/5
3. Recording the same, this Writ Petition is closed with liberty to the petitioner to challenge the aforesaid notification. There shall be no order as to the costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 21.01.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No jbr TO:-
