ORDER

This petition has been filed to quash the FIR in Crime No.712 of 2024 registered for the offence under Sections 191(2), 296(b), 131, 303(2), 351(3) of BNS and Section 3 of TN Public Property (Prevention of Damage and Loss) Act, 1993.

2. The allegation is that on 05.12.2024 at about 09.40p.m, due to a dispute with regard to parking of vehicle with head lights on, the petitioners abused the defacto-complainant in filthy language, attacked him; and broke the rear view mirror of the defacto-complainant's vehicle with a stone.

3. The petitioners and the 2nd respondent/defacto complainant had since arrived at a compromise and have filed a Joint Compromise Memo on 09.09.2025. The petitioners and the 2nd respondent/defecto complainant are present before the Court. Both of them confirm the compromise. The defacto complainant has no objection in quashing the FIR in Crime No.712 of 2024. Both the parties have been identified by Mr.M.Lakshmi Narayanan, Valliyoor Police Station, Tirunelveli. Considering the fact that the second respondent and the petitioners who are known to each other have amicably settled the dispute among themselves, and having regard to the nature of offences alleged, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served in keeping the investigation pending. Accordingly, the impugned FIR is quashed. This Criminal Original Petition is allowed. The petitioners are directed to pay a cost of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre, attached to this Bench.
