ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to expedite the petitioner's application filed under the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, which is pending before the third respondent, within a time frame to be stipulated by this Court.

2. Mr.A.Kannan, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents 1 to 3. Since no adverse order is going to be passed as against the fourth respondent, notice to him is dispensed with. By consent of parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. The petitioner submits that his wife has passed away and his children have not provided him with maintenance. Consequently, he filed an application before the respondents on 19.06.2024 under the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, which is still pending before the third respondent. As there has been no further progress, he has filed the present writ petition. 2/4

4. The learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing for the respondents 1 to 3, would submit that the application of the petitioner will be considered in accordance with law.

5. In view of the above, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the third respondent is directed to dispose of the petitioner's application dated 19.06.2024 and pass final orders on its own merits, after affording a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner, within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above directions, this writ petition stands allowed. No costs.
