O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to provide compassionate appointment within a stipulated time.

2. The case of the petitioner is that his father by name R.Mohan was appointed as a watchman in the Tamil Nadu Sugar Corporation on 07.10.1975. After completion of 19 years of service, in the year 1996, he was appointed as a Cleaner. While he was in service, he passed away in the year 2001. immediately, the petitioner made an application for appointment on compassionate ground on 15.10.2001 and the petitioner was given Serial No.32. Subsequently also, the petitioner's brother made a representation stating no objection to give compassionate appointment to his sister. However, till date no order was passed. Hence, the petitioner has filed this writ petition with the aforesaid prayer.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice, if the second respondent is directed to consider and 2/5

dispose of the representation, dated 11.01.2020, on merits and in accordance with law, within a specified period.

4. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 has no serious objection for such an order being passed by this Court.

5. Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the second respondent to consider the representation made by the petitioner's brother, dated 11.01.2020 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
