Respondent PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to settle interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of petitioner's husband Late.S.Jeyakumar's terminal benefits which were disbursed to the petitioner and her minor daughter namely J.Gurudhanushiha by way of separate cheques, dated 01.12.2022, including Provident Fund, Gratuity and Leave Salary by computing interest from the date of death of her husband to till the date on which the said benefits were settled.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed by the wife of the Special Grade Driver, who had passed while in service on 08.02.2021 seeking interest for the belated disbursal of the terminal benefits.

2. Though the petitioner's husband had passed away on 08.02.2021, his terminal benefits were released only on 01.12.2022. Seeking interest for the belated payment, the petitioner has sent a representation on 30.09.2023. Since the request has not been considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

3. Considering the above said facts, the respondent herein is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum from 09.02.2021 till 30.11.2022 within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

4. With the said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
