O R D E R

Seeking to quash the impugned FIR in Crime No.144 of 2025 dated 25.05.2025 on the file of the first respondent, registered against the petitioner for the offences punishable under Sections 296(b), 232(1) and 351(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, this Criminal Original Petition has been filed.

2. The gist of the allegations is that there was a prior dispute between the second respondent/defacto complainant and one Ashokraj with regard to the complaint given by the second respondent against the said Ashokraj for demanding a bribe; that the petitioner, who is a supporter of the said Ashokraj, abused the second respondent/defacto complainant and his workers in filthy language and threatened them with dire consequences.

3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent/defacto complainant belong to the same village, and they are neighbours. The parties have arrived at a compromise, and a joint compromise memo dated 21.06.2025 has been filed.

The petitioner, namely, C.Duraimurugan [Aadhaar No.4893 3017 4942], and the second respondent/defacto complainant, namely, Muruganantham [Aadhaar No.2305 7730 1863], are present in person before this Court. They are identified by Mr.P.Vijayakumar, Head Constable, Nagamalai Puthukottai Police Station. The parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them. The second respondent/defacto complainant has stated that he does not wish to pursue the complaint.

5. In view of the above, and considering the nature of the offences, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending for investigation. Therefore, the impugned FIR is quashed. The joint compromise memo filed by the parties shall form part and parcel of this order.
