This Criminal Original Petition has been filed, invoking Section 482 Cr.P.C., seeking orders to direct the learned Judicial Magistrate No. 2, Srivaikundam, Thoothukudi District, to expedite the trial in C.C.No. 583 of 2022 and dispose the same.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondent. 3.The grievance of the petitioner is that even after lapse of one year, trial could not be completed. Because of the pendency of the trial for a long time, the petitioner is seriously prejudiced. 4.The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) submitted that totally ten witnesses. Out of 7 witnesses, three witnesses have been examined. The remaining witnesses will be examined on 14.12.2023. 5.Considering the oldness of the crime, there shall be a direction to the learned Judicial Magistrate No.2, Srivaikundam, Thoothukudi District, to expedite trial process in C.C.No.583 of 2022 pending on his file and dispose of the same within a period of Five months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above said directions, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
