Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2. The petitioner's father is said to have passed away on 04.02.1992. The petitioner wants the death certificate for the same. He submitted an application before the first respondent. In cases of such belated registration, it is the Revenue Divisional Officer who is the competent authority.

3. The first respondent is directed to conduct an enquiry in this regard and pass final order on the petitioner's representation on merits and in accordance with law. Such an order will be passed within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4. This writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs.
