PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to dispose the representation of the petitioner dated 11.09.2024 and consequently, direct the first respondent to cancel the bogus Patta bearing No.5475, which was granted by the second respondent in respect of PANCHAMI LAND / DC LAND in S.No.190/6 situated at Unjampatti Village, Theni District. ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 11.09.2024 and, consequently, to cancel the bogus Patta bearing No.5475, which was granted by the second respondent in respect of Panchami Land / DC Land in Survey No. 190/6 situated at Unjampatti Village, Theni District.

2. Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the official respondents submitted that, for cancellation of Patta relating to Panchami Land, the competent authority is the

District Collector, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.2555, Revenue Department, dated 14.05.1973.

3. Considering the aforesaid submission, the District Collector, Theni District, is suo motu impleaded as the fifth respondent in the present Writ Petition.

4. Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands disposed of with a direction to the fifth respondent / District Collector, Theni District, to conduct an enquiry regarding Patta bearing No.5475, which was granted by the second respondent in respect of Panchami Land / DC Land in Survey No.190/6 situated at Unjampatti Village, Theni District, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
