The petition for a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to grant permission and provide protection for the conduct of the Purattasi festival of the temple, namely, Arulmigu Sri Elaikathamman, Sri Valladiyar Swamy Thirukovil, situated at Nattarpatti Village, Nilakottai Taluk, Dindigul District, on 30.09.2025, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 03.09.2025.

2.According to the petitioner, there is a dispute between the petitioner and the seventh respondent as to who should be the Poojari of the temple. On 13.12.2024, the Tahsildhar, Nilakottai/third respondent herein, conducted a peace committee meeting and advised both parties to worship the temple jointly and that if the parties create any law and order problem, the police may take suitable action.
3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 1 to 6, on instructions, would submit that the peace committee meeting was conducted pursuant to the direction issued in WP(MD) No. 27286 of 2024 dated 29.11.2024 and that the official respondents are not aware of the present situation.
4.In the light of the above submissions, this Court is of the view that if all the parties agree to abide by the conditions imposed by the third respondent on 13.12.2024, respondents 1 to 6 may consider the representation of the petitioner and permit the conduct of the festival. 3/6
5.With the above observation, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
