The petition for a writ of mandamus is filed directing the respondents to grant permission for the conduct of a public meeting at Karur-Kovai Road, near the west side of Ajantha Theatre, Karur District, on 25.09.2025 by considering the petitioner's representation dated 09.09.2025. 2.Mr.V.Ragavachari, learned Senior Counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that a communication was served this morning stating that permission cannot be granted in the place sought for by the petitioner and that the respondents are willing to offer an alternative place. The learned senior counsel would further submit that another political party was granted permission to conduct a meeting at the very same place and that he would produce proof of the conduct of such meetings before the respondents herein and he may be permitted to send a fresh representation to the first respondent with the relevant documents. 2/5
3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that no such permission was accorded to any other political party and that if the petitioner sends a fresh representation to the first respondent by 20.09.2025, the first respondent would consider the same on merits and pass appropriate orders. 4.In view of the aforesaid submissions, the petitioner shall send a fresh representation on or before 20.09.2025 to the first respondent and produce all relevant documents. The first respondent shall then consider the request of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on or before 22.09.2025, as the meeting is said to be scheduled on 25.09.2025.
