PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 2nd respondent to mutate the patta in the name of the petitioner and her brothers for the property measuring about 5 acres in S.No.240/22 Old Survey No.240/4 in Ellapatti Village, Oddanchatram Taluk in Dindigul District by considering the petitioner representation dated 10.08.2025.

ORDER

By relying on the assignment order dated 31.01.1971 in favour of her father and the patta issued to her father, the petitioner had requested for mutation of the patta in the names of the legal heirs of her late father Kuppusamy. On the ground that such request was not acted upon within a reasonable time, the present writ petitoin has been filed. 2.Learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of both the respondents. He submits that inquiry is ongoing and that the petitioner's request would be disposed of on merits within ten weeks. 3.The legal heirship certificate submitted by the Petitioner shows the names of Muthusamy, Ponnusamy and the petitioner. Therefore, before taking a decision, these persons should be put on notice. 4.Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's request for mutation of patta and dispose of the same on merits within ten weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner and the other legal heirs of late Kuppusamy.
