O R D E R
The present Writ Petition has been filed by a retired Checking Inspector of the respondent Transport Corporation, who had attained superannuation on 31.05.2026 seeking payment of interest for the belated disbursement of Surrender Leave Salary of Rs.68,712/- from the date of his retirement i.e 31.05.2016 to 12.07.2022, the date on which the said surrender leave salary benefits was settled to him.
2. According to the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, though the petitioner has retired from service on 31.05.2016, the surrender leave salary was released only on 12.07.2022. Hence, the petitioner has addressed a communication to the respondents on 03.08.2024, seeking payment of interest for the belated disbursement of surrender leave salary. Since there is no response, the present writ petition has been filed.
3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondent. 2/4

Considering the above said facts, the respondent herein is directed to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated disbursement of surrender leave salary from the due date till the date of disbursement, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
