ORDER
The petitioner asserts that he is one of the trustees of the Manicka S.Lakshmanaier Renganayaki Ammal Dharma Trust. It is further stated that the property in Town S.No.3015 of an extent of 547.5 sq.mt. was acquired in an auction conducted in O.S.No.23 of 1933 by Rengayanaki Ammal, Dhanalakshmi Ammal and Krishnamani Ammal and that such land was settled in the name of the trust.
2.Learned counsel for the petitioner refers to the Town Survey Register and points out that the Adangal shows "Manicka Rengaswamy Mandapam" as the person in occupation of the land. In these circumstances, it is stated that the petitioners' objections are not being considered in the acquisition proceedings initiated under the Tamil Nadu Highways Act, 2001. 3.Learned Special Government Pleader accepts notice on behalf of all the respondents. He submits that the authority vested with the jurisdiction to decide the matter is the District Collector and that he would act on the receipt of reports from the Tahsildar and the Revenue Divisional Officer. He further submits that this process would be completed in about eight weeks in accordance with the above mentioned statute.

4.In view of the above submissions, without making any observations on the merits, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondents to consider and dispose of the petitioners' objections dated 05.08.2024 on merits within eight weeks from the date to receipt of a copy of this order after providing a reasonable opportunity to the petitioner.
