ORDER

This writ petition is filed for a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's application dated 09.02.2023 and mutate the land records in respect of the property situated at Plot No.20, Dr.Karunanidhi Nagar (now K.K.Nagar) comprised in S.F.No.5/1A part of K.Sathanur Village, Trichy District measuring an extent of 4500 sq.ft. 2.Mr.A.Kannan, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents.

3.By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

4.The petitioner was settled with the property in Plot No.20, Dr.Karunanidhi Nagar (now K.K.Nagar) comprised in S.F.No.5/1A part of K.Sathanur Village, Trichy District measuring an extent of 4500 sq.ft Trichy District, by her husband by way of a settlement deed dated 07.03.1984. The petitioner and her husband were in peaceful possession 2/5

and enjoyment of the property. While so, the petitioner requested the first respondent to mutate the survey land records (SLR) in her name in respect of the aforesaid property vide application dated 09.02.2023. However, no action was taken. The petitioner therefore filed this writ petition for the aforesaid prayer.

5.The petitioner is a senior citizen aged about 76 years. she made an application to the third respondent/ Tahsildar as early as on 09.02.2023 and the Tahsildar seems to have taken some action vide communication dated 31.08.2023. However, no action was taken thereafter. The fact remains that the petitioner's application is kept pending for more than 1 1⁄2 years.

Considering the fact that the petitioner is a senior citizen aged about 76 years, I direct the respondents to consider the application of the petitioner dated 09.02.2023 on merits and in accordance with law and in terms of the circular issued by the Commissioner of Land Administration dated 17.17.2023 within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7.With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
