ORDER

The petitioner seeks a direction to the learned District and Sessions Judge, Mahila Court, Madurai, to complete the trial in S.C.No.212 of 2021 within the stipulated time frame.

2. The petitioner/victim has sought for this direction stating that there was no progress in the trial, although the case is pending since 2021 and hence, the direction ought to be issued for early disposal.

3. When the matter was taken up for hearing earlier, this Court directed the Sessions Court to file a report as to why the case was adjourned for trial from 14.12.2021 to 11.08.2025 without any progress.

4. The learned Session Judge had submitted a report stating that there are number of cases pending on the file of the Sessions Judge; that there are 136 cases, which are five year old cases and that the trial of Sessions cases upto the year 2020 has been opened so far and that 2021 cases would be taken up soon. The learned Sessions Judge also stated 2/5

that L.W.2 was examined on 10.10.2025 and L.W3 would be examined on 23.10.2025.

5. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, Would submit that 20 witnesses were cited and they would be produced as and when they are summoned by the learned Sessions Judge.

6. Considering the request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner and the report of the learned sessions Judge, this Court is of the view that the direction cannot be issued to conclude the trial within a time frame. However, since the trial has already been commenced, the learned Sessions Judge may conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible.

7. With the above directions, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
