ORDER

This Contempt Petition had been filed complaining violation of the interim order granted by this Court.

2. There is an order of status quo granted in respect of promotion. Under the order which is complained of as being made in violation, temporary promotions have been granted which is also subject to the result of this writ petition. The respondents may be at fault in finalizing the seniority list based upon Section 40(1) of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016. Hence, this Court has granted an order of status quo.

3. In view of the order of status quo, no promotion could be made. The Government is also empowered to grant temporary promotions in case of exigencies. Hence, temporary promotion is granted. In the considered view of this Court, it cannot be said to be a violation of the order passed by this Court.
