ORDER : The Court made the following order :- The petitioner/accused, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under sections 406, 420 and 120B IPC in Crime No.36 of 2023 on the file of the respondent police, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner herein and other accused 1/3

have received huge amount from the defacto complainant stating that they are running a chit fund in the name and style of Kovilpatti Vanigar Nala Sangam, but, subsequently, they have failed to return the same. Hence, the case.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is only Treasurer and he is innocent and he has not committed any offence as alleged by the prosecution and his name has been falsely implicated in this case.

4. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent would submit that the petitioner is Treasurer and he has also signed in the receipt issued to the defacto complainant. He would further submit that without valid licence, the chit run by the petitioner and hence, he strongly opposed to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and also considering the serious nature of allegations made against the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.
