ORDER
The petitioner seeks to quash the FIR in Crime No.1540 of 2021 on the file of the first respondent Police, which has been filed for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 392, 397 and 506(ii) of IPC.

The allegation in the FIR is that on 20.06.2021, while the defacto complainant selling the fruits in a street, the accused person came there and demanded money; that when the same was refused by the defacto complainant, the accused abused him in filthy language and threatened him with knife and snatched a sum of Rs.150/- from the defacto complainant.
3. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent have now entered into a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo, dated 23rd September 2025 and the scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows: 2/8

4. The second respondent, namely, Dinesh (Aadhaar No.6179 6442 6602) is present before this Court in person and is identified by Mr.K.Sankar, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Kumbakonam East Police Station, Thanjavur District. Both the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.
5. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, would fairly submit that the petitioner is not a habitual offender and there is no previous case pending against him.
6. In view of the above and considering the nature of the offence and there is no previous case pending against the petitioner and the dispute is private in nature, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.1540 of 2021, dated 20.06.2021 is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
