COMMON ORDER When the matter is taken up for consideration on an earlier occasion on 13.03.2023, the learned counsel on either side expressed their readiness to put efforts for amicable settlement of the dispute between the parties. Accordingly, the matter was adjourned today.

2. When the matter is taken up for consideration today, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner is ready to pay the principal amount awarded by the learned Labour Court without interest as awarded in the impugned orders. He also contended that the learned Labour Court has no jurisdiction to award interest while passing an order in the application filed under Section 33(C)(2) of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

3. Faced with the said submission, Mr.V.O.S.Kalaiselvam, learned counsel appearing for the respondents also having taken note of the law laid

down by the Hon'ble Apex Court, fairly submitted that the respondents may be paid the principal amount as awarded in terms of the impugned orders without interest.

4. In the light of the above, these Writ Petitions are disposed of with the consent of both parties, directing the petitioner to pay the principal amount awarded under the impugned orders to the respondents in 4 equal monthly installments commencing from 15.04.2025. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. There shall be no order as to costs. 27.03.2025 Index :
