Heard both sides.

2. The petitioner is the holder of Indian passport. It appears that another person had applied passport containing very same details as that of the writ petitioner. The other application was closed. The petitioner was called upon to offer his explanation in this regard. The petitioner also surrendered his passport. Now the petitioner wants his passport back and he also wants to renew the same. In this regard, the petitioner asked for report from the second respondent.

3. The second respondent is directed to furnish report to the first respondent within a period of four weeks. Based on the said report, an enquiry should be conducted by the first respondent. Appropriate decision will be taken on the petitioner's request. The entire exercise will be completed within a period of ten weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. This writ petition stands disposed of accordingly. No costs.
