ORDER
The petitioner seeks to quash the impugned charge sheet in S.C.No.504 of 2023 on the file of the learned Assistant Sessions Court, Valliyoor, which 1/8
was filed for the offences under Section 294(b), 307 and 506(2) IPC.
2. The allegation in the final report is that the petitioner is the husband of the second respondent; that on 30.11.2020, due to matrimonial dispute, the petitioner abused the second respondent in filthy language and attacked her with knife and threatened her with dire consequences and thus, committed the aforesaid offences.
3. Though there is an allegation of offence under Section 307 IPC, it is seen that the injury suffered by the victims is simple in nature. Thus, the learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the offence under Section 307 of IPC has not been made out.
4. Admittedly, the petitioner and the second respondent are husband and wife and are now living together pursuant to a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 26th September 2025 and the scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

5. The petitioner, namely, Sribalakalyani (Aadhaar No.5095 8854 6081) and the second respondent, namely, Maheswari (Aadhaar No.3174 6713 9845) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.S.Krishnan, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Radhapuram Police Station, Tirunelveli District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

In view of the same and considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served by keeping the impugned final report pending trial. Accordingly, the impugned charge sheet in S.C.No.504 of 2023 on the file of the learned Assistant Sessions Court, Valliyoor, is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed.
