ORDER

Heard both sides.

2.The petitioner's husband passed away recently. The petitioner wants to adopt her niece. She filed A.D.O.P.No.180 of 2021 before the learned District Judge, Thoothukudi. In view of the amendment made to the relevant statutory rules, the A.D.O.P has been transferred to the file of the respondent.

3.The respondent is directed to dispose of the petitioner's application on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. I would request the respondent not to seek extension of time. This is because the application was filed by the petitioner way back in August 2021. The transfer itself came to be made in November 2022. Therefore, the respondent is called upon to pass final order within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 2/4

4.This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. There shall be no order as to costs.
