ORDER
[Order of the Court was made by M.DHANDAPANI, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed seeking to quash Serial Nos.3 and 4 of the impugned communication issued by the second respondent in MaThiE4/001533/2025 dated 06.08.2025 and consequently direct the respondents not to remove or relocate Tamil Annai Statue and Thiru.T.T.Sankaradass Swamigal statue which are situated near Thamukkam Ground, Madurai. 2.Learned Counsel for the petitioner would submit that the the Tamil Annai statue and Thiru.T.T.Sankaradass Swamigal statue are situate near Thamukkam ground. Since the road expansion work is being carried out, the said statues are sought to be relocated to Tamil Sangam. Challenging the same, the present Writ Petition has been filed.
3.Learned Counsel for the petitioner would submit that for the present, re-location of the statues are only for the purpose of road expansion. However, the
same is not disputed by the petitioner, except for relocation of Tamil Annai statue alone, since it is situated in a prime location in Madurai city. 4.However, learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents fairly submitted that after restoration of the road expansion, a new Tamil Annai statue will be installed in front of Thamukkam Ground. 5.In view of the above submission, this Court directs that after completion of the road expansion work, the State Government shall consider the proposal for installing a new Tamil Annai statue near the Thamukkam Ground. 6.With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
