Heard Ms.D.Saranya, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.M.Siddharthan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
2. The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to grant compassionate appointment to her in any suitable post commensurate with her educational qualification by considering her application dated 19.02.2020.
3. The petitioner's husband who worked as a Teacher in Government Higher Secondary School, Poondi, Thanjavur District died 2/6
on 05.03.2019 during harness. Subsequently, the petitioner has made an application to the respondents on 19.02.2020 seeking compassionate appointment. However, the same has not been considered so far. Hence, the writ petition.

Mr.M.Siddharthan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that so far as the compassionate appointment applications under the respondent Department are concerned, orders have been passed up to the year 2017 only and since the petitioner's husband died in the year 2019, her application will be considered on the basis of seniority.
5. Even though it might take time to release the Appointment Order in accordance with seniority, the respondents are not prevented from considering the application made by the petitioner and pass orders by assigning seniority number to her.

In view of the above observations, the writ petition is disposed of and the respondents are directed to consider the application of the petitioner dated 19.02.2020 on their own merits and pass orders in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
