ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking to quash the impugned FIR in Crime No.650 of 2025 on the file of the first respondent, which was registered for the offences under Sections 191(1), 324(2), 115(2), 127(2), 351(2) and 303(2) of BNS, 2023.

2. The allegation in the FIR is that the first petitioner had threatened the defacto complainant's brother of dire consequences; that petitioners had attacked the defacto complainant's family members; that they had committed theft of gold jewels and mobile phone from the house of the defacto complainant and thus committed the aforesaid offences.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that the petitioners are not professional thieves or robbers; that the FIR has been foisted against the petitioners as there was a wordy quarrel between the petitioners and the defacto complainant since the defacto complainant was making fun of the ladies, who attended the temple festival. He would further submit that the parties have now arrived at a compromise and decided to give a quietus to the entire dispute. The parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 13.10.2025 and the scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows: 2/7

The petitioners, namely, Velmurugan (Aadhaar No.3561 5026 0711), Murugan @ Karuppu (Aadhaar No.8620 5495 9408), Manimegalai (Aadhaar No.5973 8583 4365), Manikandan (Aadhaar No.3220 3211 0820), Sakthi @ Jeevasakthi (Aadhaar No.9186 9322 2572) and the defacto complainant, namely, Manikandan (Aadhaar No.2147 8152 1282) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.Chinna Alagu, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Sellur Police Station, Madurai City. The defacto complainant confirms the compromise and states that the complaint was lodged at the instance of his mother; that the petitioners and the defacto complainant belong to the same Village; and that he does not wish to pursue the complaint.

5. In view of the same and considering the nature of the offences and the relationship between the parties, this Court is of the view that no useful purpose would be served in keeping the impugned FIR pending investigation. Accordingly, the impugned FIR in Crime No.650 of 2025 on the file of the first respondent is quashed and the Criminal Original Petition stands allowed. 22.10.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No Lm 5/7
