This writ petition has been filed for a Writ of Mandamus directing to the respondents to to pay the petitioner interest at the rate of 18 percent per annum, for the belated payment of retirement benefits including, Provident Fund and Earned Leave Encashment amount and Voluntary retirement compensation amount and surrender on Earned leave amount while on service.

2. Considering the admitted fact that there has been a delay in payment, the petitioner is entitled to statutory interest as provided under law.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner would restrict his claim of interest at the rate of 6% per annum.

4. In view of the same, the writ petition stands disposed of. The respondents are directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the belated terminal benefits including Provident Fund and Earned Leave Encashment amount and Voluntary retirement compensation amount and surrender on Earned leave payable to the petitioner from the date of his entitlement till the date of his payment within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
